Usually presents on lower extremities, but may occur anywhere
Prognosis excellent; local recurrences rare
Microscopic Pathology
Dermal and subcutaneous proliferation of dilated vascular channels
Spaces are often widely dilated superficially, but become narrower with deep extension
Endothelial-lined papillary projections with mild fibrosis may be present
Endothelial cells may show mild hyperchromasia, but no significant atypia
Low-magnification histologic examination of a progressive lymphangioma shows widely dilated lymphatic spaces in the superficial dermis. |
