6. Scenario-based questions are typically associated with a patient profile or medical record. The scenario will be in a separate window on the same screen for one or more questions. The questions refer to the scenario or are stand-alone questions related to the scenario. Because the entire scenario may not be fully displayed in the window, the image can be moved within the window with the cursor to review the complete scenario. Use the scrap paper provided to write down significant points from the scenario, such as allergies, age, preexisting diseases, pregnancy, nursing, and age for the likelihood of pregnancy. Review the scenario first to also look for the potential of a drug allergy, duplicate therapy, contraindication, or adverse drug effect. Medications may appear with trade or generic names.
The MPJE is a 2-hour, computer-adaptive exam composed of 90 multiple-choice questions. Three exam formats are used in the MPJE, as follows.
1. Multiple-choice question with a single answer typically out of 4 possible responses, for example:

The Play Book
The NAPLEX tests for three general domains of competency, referred to as The NAPLEX Blueprint, which is included in the NAPLEX/MPJE Candidate Registration Bulletin (www.nabp.net/programs/examination/naplex). The 2014 Candidate Registration Bulletin describes the competency domains as follows:
■ Area 1: Assess pharmacotherapy to assure safe and effective therapeutic outcomes (approximately 56% of test)
■ Area 2: Assess safe and accurate preparation and dispensing of medications (approximately 33% of test)
■ Area 3: Assess, recommend, and provide health care information that promotes public health (approximately 11% of test)
The MPJE is based on competencies related to the following domains as described in the 2014 NAPLEX/MPJE Candidate Registration Bulletin:
