Introduction
Lung transplantation remains an acceptable treatment option for patients with advanced end-stage lung disease. In the United States the most frequent indications for lung transplantation are emphysema, cystic fibrosis, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, primary pulmonary hypertension (PPH), and alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency.
