Hematoxylin & eosin shows low-power view of hibernoma, composed of well-defined lobules of polygonal cells. Cells with the appearance of brown fat are mixed with mature adipocytes. No atypia is present.

Hematoxylin & eosin shows hibernoma at higher magnification, composed of an admixture of polygonal cells with granular eosinophilic or multivacuolated cytoplasm. Univacuolated adipocytes are also seen.
