- Age of patient – if under 16 years, are they Fraser competent? A competent person:
- Is able to understand and retain the information pertinent to the decision about their care, as well as the consequences of not having treatment.
- Is able to use this information to consider whether or not they should consent to the intervention offered.
- Is able to communicate their wishes.
