Common indications
Cervical polyps are usually benign pedunculated growths of the cervix that are often asymptomatic but can cause bleeding. Because they are occasionally malignant, small polyps are best removed during a gynecologic examination and sent to the pathology laboratory for diagnosis (Figure 24-1).
