Definitions



  • Gram-negative bacterium that causes gastroenteritis


  • Common species



    • C. jejuni: Most commonly associated with food-borne gastroenteritis


    • C.coli and C. laridis: Less common, also associated with food-borne illness


    • C. fetus: More often seen in immunocompromised patients and homosexual men
