Chapter 28 Breast Cyst Aspiration
Common indications
Cystic breast nodules can be initially worked up and treated with aspiration. Persistent or recurrent nodules require further evaluation to rule out malignancy (Figure 28-1).
Key steps
2. Prepare the skin: Fully cleanse the skin with povidone-iodine or alcohol. Skin markers can be used to facilitate finding smaller cysts after the skin has been prepared (Figure 28-2).
3. Stabilize the cyst: Gently but firmly secure the cyst between the fingers of the nondominant hand (Figure 28-3).
