Indications/uses: Cramp bark, as the name suggests, is mainly used as an antispasmodic for all types of smooth and skeletal muscle, including colic, but especially for female complaints such as dysmenorrhoea, excessive menstrual bleeding, to prevent miscarriage, and improve uterine tone and facilitate childbirth.
Evidence: There is no clinical evidence for any indication but a long history of use.
Safety: No toxicity has been reported and the constituents do not suggest any safety concerns; however, there is no data confirming safety either.
