Primary giant-cell tumor (GCT) of the lung, a tumor histologically resembling giant-cell tumor of the bone, is extremely rare—only a few cases have been reported in the literature. In addition to the lung, primary GCT has rarely been reported in other extraosseous tissues, including pancreas, thyroid, skin, and soft tissue. In a series of five cases, including the case illustrated here, three occurred in men and two in women (age range 43 to 79 years, average 67 years). Prognosis was good with long survival, even in a patient with subsequent resected metastatic disease.
